This is an intensive one day course teaching users how to create popular looks without using presets and LUTs having much more creative control over their projects. The techniques taught on this course will give the foundation for the colorist to create their own unique looks.

Creative Color Looks & Techniques Overview (Keynote)

Essential Methods for Creating Stylised Looks
– ‘Tinting and Toning’ – How to make split-toned looks (Curve, Log and Key methods)
– Layer Nodes: Color Isolations and restoring lost colours and detail
– Detail: Sharpening, Coring, Level plus Blurring and Mist
– Texture: Applying ‘Motion Effects’ to control texture
– Log Grading Mode: great tips for creative looks
– Image Overlays: Use and benefits of grain, noise and light effect overlays for styling images
– Powergrades and Stills for creative grade management
– Groups & Track effects for fast experimentation or adjustments

Cinema & TV Drama “Looks” Explained
– Exploring strong examples of these looks from video clips and Stills
– Interpreting the ‘look’ of styled images and methods to create them
– What are the steps needed to make these special looks?

Creating Stylised Looks (Part 1) – Hands-on grading examples:
– Dramatic Looks – ‘Thriller & Horror Looks’ (Long Form Projects)
– Hollywood Looks – Achieving typical looks seen in Holywood movies
– Night Looks – “Day for Night” color grading (simple and complex stylised methods)

Beauty & Skin Grading
– Hands-on grading of examples of skin and beauty work
